Dr. Lassiter brings his expertise in mental health for people from racial and ethnic groups and LGBTQ+ communities; African-centered psychology; social justice; health inequities (e.g., unequal burden of HIV, depression, suicide); and the interplay of health, religion, and spirituality to an array of diverse audiences.

Diverse Audiences

Dr. Lassiter is a sought after media personality, mental health expert, and social justice advocate. He has appeared on several TV and radio shows discussing everything from mental health stigma, finding a therapist, self-care, presidential elections, narcicissm among Black gay men, to the dual pandemics of racism and COVID 19. Such shows that have welcomed him have included but are not limited to the Today Show, Openly LGBTQ+ News in the UK, iHeart Radio, NextNation with Sylvia Alston on Sirius XM, and PBS39 News Reports. He has delivered keynote speeches and guest lectures at an array of institutions including Stanford University School of Medicine, Yale School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, Judson Memorial Church, Harlem Hospital, Connecticut College, Winston-Salem State University, and the Opportunity Conference. He has given book talks at venues such as the Ruth Ellis Center, the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center, and City University of New York. He has also shared his scholarly research at numerous conferences of professional organizations including the Association of Black Psychologists, American Psychological Association, the American Public Health Association, and the Society of Behavioral Medicine.
